What is Herd Immunity?

  • Exposure does not always mean illness and disease.  Immunity means that your body has built it’s permanent immune system defense.  Vaccines aim to create an immune reaction in the body against an introduced antigen (the vaccine ingredients). This is a stimulated or artificial process. Vaccine Induced Immunity is Temporary and has known risks, including death.
  • The total number of people “in the herd” who are immune to a given bacterial or viral infection is made up of both those who contract the disease naturally and those who have been vaccinated.
